UC Marin Master Gardeners in partnership with Marin Free Library is hosting three Fire-smart landscaping (online) presentations, June 11, 12, and 17.

Program: Learn about best practices and recommendations for adapting fire-smart considerations and actions into your landscape. These practices will result in a healthy, aesthetically pleasing, eco-friendly landscape while implementing defensible space around your home.

The spring weather brings the opportunity to look around your property and enjoy the resulting new growth in your yard. It is also a great time to identify and plan actions to prepare for fire season. Utilizing insights and action-oriented tips from this presentation you can plan and maintain your landscape for fire risk mitigation utilizing science-based information to make it healthy and fire-smart.

This is an online event offered through the Marin Free Library.

Speaker: Jim Kasper joined UC Marin Master Garden in 2011. His gardening areas of interest are California natives with particular attention to garden planning and plant selection for fire-risk mitigation and defensible space. Since a 12-acre fire on public land 1/4-mile from his home, Jim has been involved with various organizations including GGNRA, Marin County Parks, Marin Master Gardeners, fire agencies in Marin County and the Marin Chapter of the California Native Plant Society.
