What is RSG?
A program that is designed to teach personal responsibility to those people who elect to live within the WUI, incorporating them into the wildland fire solution by educating them in wildland fire preparation, prevention and evacuation and what to do if trapped
Will we be teaching RSG classes?
There will not be any RSG classes. All program material is available for viewing or downloading on the RSG website. However you may get requests from homeowners or residents to conduct a walk-around of their property to assist them in assessing their structure, risk, etc.
What or who is the target audience?
Homeowners and residents in or near Wildland-Urban Interface areas of Marin County.
Is this regulatory? Are there mandates?
No. This is a public education campaign only. It is intended to increase awareness of the threat and provide materials to assist the public in developing an emergency plan.
Is anyone else using or promotion this program?
This program is being adopted by the Marin County Fire Chiefs for all fire agencies in Marin. It began in southern CA through Orange and Ventura and was recently endorsed for national rollout through the IAFC.
Where can I get more information or where can I refer citizens to?
RSG materials are posted on the following web site: http://www.readysetgomarin.org. Each fire agency in Marin will have a link from their department home page to RSG. Some fire departments may provide additional printed materials at their fire stations in support of RSG.
Who is the contact for RSG?
There is no countywide contact person. Individual queries should be directed to the appropriate fire department.
Are there any supporting documents or materials?
Yes, on the web site there are several PDF documents that can be viewed or downloaded. There is also a 12 minute video that can be viewed. The web site will also contain links to other wildfire preparedness information
Does this interface with Get Ready? Is it the same as Get Ready?
This is a separate program from Get Ready. Unlike Get Ready, there will be no classes taught or banners posted. Get ready is a broader program on threat awareness and basic preparation. Ready set go is specific to wildfire.
