Headlands I Homeowners Association - Fire Fuel Reduction Project
Funded by The National Park Service

Headlands 1 is a small community situated in the hills above Highway 101 and Highway 1 in Southern Marin County. It is located adjacent to GGNRA parklands and has a population of approximately 2500 citizens. The area is within a state-declared high fire hazard zone because of its’ heavy fuel load, topography and the areas high ignition frequency

Utilizing WUII funding, a continues 100’ fuel break, surrounding 235 homes was created by Marin Conservation Corps. Approximately 11.5 acres of flammable scotch broom and blackberry was either cut and chipped on-site or cut and piled for later burning by Marin County Fire Department.
